    From the vice-commodore's desk .....
Just a small note. The 2007-2008 bill ares being prepared. If you haven't already done so, now is the time to work off your work assessment. There are still several projects going on that require peoples help. Contact Bill McCarthy to help out.

    From the treaurer's desk .....
It is each members responsibility to turn in a work assessment card signed by there committee chairman. Cards not turned in or unsigned will be billed the $200.00 work assessment.

From the mooring chairman's desk .....
There are at least a half dozen boats jumping from mooring to mooring in the Bass River. It is becoming ever more difficult to manage the area with people moving around. Please remember, it is against the City Ordinances to tie to someone elses mooring or move your mooring without proper authorization. If you have proper authorization, please make sure you discuss it with the mooring committee. If you do not have proper authorization, please return to your mooring.

    From the secretary's desk .....
Construction on the Northeast Gateway Project, a 16-mile long underwater natural gas pipeline, is scheduled to commence off the shores of Marblehead on or about May 24, 2007 (the "Project"). Construction is scheduled. to continue throughout the summer and fall. The new pipeline will connect with an existing pipeline system approximately 2 miles southeast of Marblehead Bell, then travel offshore in a northeasterly, then southeasterly direction, before terminating at a deepwater port located in federal waters approximately 13 miles south-southeast of Gloucester. This project is anticipated to bring significant large commercial traffic to the waters off Marblehead this summer. Some of these commercial vessels, when anchored, will require as much as a 6000-foot berth. The Project will place high-flyer buoys offshore in the Project area that will indicate the areas of active construction. It will be important that you maintain a heightened awareness and exercise extreme caution when boating near active construction zones. In order to assist mariners, the Project has established a website (wwwv.northeastgatewayconstruction.com) that will provide daily updates concerning the locations of construction activities and vessels by use of an interactive NOAA-based map as well as updates to individual pages within the website in order to highlight ongoing construction activities. This website contains a wealth of information and it is recommend that you use it to familiarize yourself with th.e Project and refer to it regularly for updates. The Project will also broadcast construction updates each day on local marine channels - Marine channel 80 in the Marblehead area and marine channel 19 in the Beverly - Salem area. The U.S. Coast Guard will also broadcast this information as part of its daily Broadcast Notification to Mariners on marine channel 16. Finally, the Sector Waterways Management Division of the U.S. Coast Guard will also perform a weekly Safety Marine information Broadcast to inform the public of working vessel locations and will publish information in the weekly Local Notice to Mariners. If you have any questions or require additional information, please call the Project's toll-free telephone number (800-783-9171)

There are small one man projects available. Work off your work assessment now.
